No king but Christ
I was reminded this morning of the lyrics of a song from my childhood church days: “Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, but there’s something about (the name of Jesus).”
Jesus isn’t the mascot of our preferred political stream. Jesus didn’t come to prop up our preferred politicians and policies. Jesus IS the king and the chief policy maker.
This meshes well with another great quote I recently heard: “Jesus is my king. The Sermon on the Mount is my Constitution.”
